Sennelier extra soft pastels are composed of high quality pure pigment grounded with a natural transparent binder. The exceptional brightness is the result of the pigment and of the natural mineral fines discovered by Sennelier in 1905 and used in their pastels ever since. For gradient shades, increasing amounts of mineral fines are added, ultimately tending towards white. The high quality composition of “à l’écu” pastels is the result of a perfect balance between binder and pigment.
This set of 100 Sennelier Extra Soft Pastels comes in a wooden box for safe storage and transport. The colours have been specially selected for landscape artists, who generally require a wider selection of greens, blues and earths than portraitists.
Use on toothy surfaces such as pastel paper. If a lot of overlapping is performed, it is preferable to fix between layers. Avoid, however, fixing the final layer too heavily, as the original tones will be lost. Please remember that the lifespan of a pastel drawing depends on both the quality of the pastel, and the quality of the paper or card it is executed on.
