The St. Cuthbert’s Mill in Wells, England, has been producing paper for more than 250 years. Saunders Waterford® watercolour paper is produced on a conventional cylinder mould. The cylinder machine is covered with natural woollen felts, giving the 100% cotton paper a characteristic randomized texture. The paper is capable of withstanding abrasive treatments like scraping and scrubbing since it is both internally and externally sized. Calcium carbonate is used as a buffer to prevent acid fading on each sheet.
The Royal Watercolor Society has approved Saunders Waterford® watercolour paper. The oldest and most renowned watercolour society in the world is The Royal Watercolor Society.
